The horse treat with a special plus

Love goes through the stomach as we say in Germany or feeding = caring

A lot of us think that this is also the case with our horses. You want to feed them something special from time to time and use a treat to do so. This can be a carrot or an apple, but unfortunately often  industrially manufactured treats which do not meet the requirements of horses are fed. These are almost always mixed with coloring and flavorings as well as preservatives. In addition, inexpensive ingredients are usually used that are nutritionally unhealthy for furry friends.

My healthy alternative hand baked treats in very high quality, which are tailored to the nutritional needs of horses. They offer one special added value, by possibly having a positive effect on respiratory conditions , gastrointestinal problems, hormonal imbalances, etc.

My core range includes two main ingredients. To these I am adding ingredients, which are can affect defined problems in horses.

I have developed all the recipes by myself and they have successfully proven palatability in many horses. Medical and scientific information as well as the horses helped me to choose the ingredients and create the recipes. Being a horse owner for many years, my degree in equine science and my doctorate in agricultural sciences with a focus on horses help me to chose the right ingredients in order to create recipes that the horses like and which do have an additive value to health and well-being.

I can say that any statement about my treats is scientifically proven and  the related studies are available as sources at the bottom of each page.

Based on oat flakes: Very tasty, easily digestible and low in dust

I use food grade oatmeal as a base. It has been scientifically proven that oatmeal is very healthy for horses. A study showed that the NDF (Neutral Detergent Fiber) in oat flakes is very low [1]. Another study also shows that, in contrast to many other feeds, oat flakes contain very little dust and therefore do not irritate the respiratory tract [2]. The digestibility of oat flakes is very high at 99.7% in contrast to whole oat grains at only 70% [3].

Based on grasses/plants: basis of the hippological diet

In the wild, horses feed mainly on various grasses and plants [4]. There is nothing more obvious than taking grass and plants as a further basis for treats. Here I pay particular attention to the seasonality of native plants and grasses.

horses should "horse friendly" to be fed". There is now enough scientific knowledge and studies have shown that many diseases are caused by improper nutrition.

That's why my horse treats definitely only contain what horses find in the wild and in moderation.

My focus is on the hippological diet.
